Welcome to American Legion Post 903 .We are the only American Legion Post in Monroe County with no Post home or Bar to Support us. We are a small group of Veterans, Sons of the American Legion and Auxiliary. We are here to help support our Veterans their families & the Community. We Maintain the Tannersville War Memorial & hold our Ceremonies there. We replace the flags on our Veterans Graves twice a year at all the Cemeteries in Pocono Township. Our members are part of & work closely with other Veterans Organizations like the Monroe County Honor Guard, Operation Chillout for our homeless veterans, Disabled American Veterans & the Monroe County Veterans Association. We also have the help & Support of Boy Scout Troop 85 & the Civil Air Patrol Cadets from Tobyhanna Army Depot.
In 2015 with the help of Boy Scout Troop 85 & an Eagle Scout project we installed 6 new flag poles & new lighting at the War Memorial.
In 2016 we installed 6 new Park benches, one for each Branch of Service & one for our POW’S & MIA’S. We also installed a Plaque for ALL those from Monroe County that never returned from Vietnam.
In 2017 for the 100th Anniversary of the United States entering WW I we installed a Plaque to remember those who died during WW I from Monroe County.
In 2018 we are hoping to complete the walkway in front of the Memorial & start the WW II plaque & have part of it installed by July 4th. We have a Scout from Troop 85 that wants to do his Eagle Scout project at the War Memorial. Other projects at the Memorial will be Korean Plaque, War on Terror Plaque. Planting of small trees or bushes one for each War. A small Plaque listing the dates of the War & all those killed & missing from the Revolutionary war up to the War on Terror.
