THOMAS BOWDITCH VETERANS EDUCATION CENTER & MUSEUM

American Legion Post 903 was formed 10 years ago from the remains of Post 425 in Tannersville PA. Who disbanded due to lack of membership. Since our inception we have working out of a small mobile homes as well as the garages of several members. We were instrumental in forming the Monroe County Joint Veterans Honor Guard. In the past seven years we have performed over 600 funerals and maintained the replacement of  American Flags on Veterans graves at twelve different local cemeteries. We also maintain the Veterans War Memorial on route 611 in Tannersville PA.

For many years we have been looking for a post  home that we can call home. In May of 2020 we acquired the St Mary's of the Mount Parish off Fairview Ave in Mt  Pocono PA. The property will officially be known as "Thomas Bowditch Veterans Education Center and Museum" In memory of Post 903 Past Commander Thomas Bowditch. The church was built in 1908 and the rectory was built in 1913. The property is over hundred years old and has been abandon for the past seven years and its neglect has caused extensive damage too both building. Both building's will require extensive amount  repairs and renovations to be done to bring them up to code including but not limited to roofing ,masonry, electric, plumbing, HVAC etc.. 

Our current mission is to renovate both buildings turning the church into an indoor Veterans museum featuring array military artifacts from various conflicts. The basement of the church will become a hall for lease as well as a place where local Veterans can host meetings. The rectory will become the home of Post 903 and Monroe County Joint Veterans Honor Guard with office space for various local Veterans organizations. As well as temporary housing for Veterans in need. We're seeking the publics help in soliciting funds to assist our organization in rebuilding these two historic properties to help promote, assist and establish a long needed local Veterans center in Monroe County PA
